The small German town, Krefeld, was turned to fashion Mecca for 2 days from 19th to 20th September 2009. Fashion houses ranging from Gerry Weber, SinnLeffers, and Esprit to Reebok and Nike presented their creations for the Autumn/Winter 2009/2010. Ladies have no reason to complain about lack of varieties. Different styles in diverse shades of colours are available to choose from. The trendy colours are Moroccan blue, black, slate grey, palace blue, atmosphere, burnt orange, gloxinia, moss, rattan, glazed ginger, ruby wine, fuchsia red, burnt olive, dark citron, vibrant green, lavender and salmon rose. The combination of colours and type of fabric seem to classify the general fashion trend into three categories; casual, classic and chic.
Relatively bright colours such as bunt orange, dark citron, salmon rose and modern high-tech fabrics combined to give a dynamic look define the fashion under the casual category. The classic category is dominated by black and other subdued colours like grey, Moroccan blue, burnt olive which are sometimes combined with atmosphere. In the chic category, modern fabrics with digital prints in shades of palace blue, vibrant green and fuchsia red give a very moderate flamboyant look.
Dresses are mostly styled in body conscious looks with the length just above the knee. Bare shoulders are borrowed from summer dresses to create one shoulder asymmetric outfits; a bare shoulder and a long sleeve. High collar blouses are worn over slim trousers or skirts. Jackets are available in a variety of shoulder silhouette including sharp shoulder and full-on puffs. For men, classic suits are still favoured. Shirts and sweaters combined with jeans or cord trousers make up the casual look.
The fashion event known as “Die Groesste Strassenmodenschau der Welt” (The world’s largest street fashion show) in Krefeld takes place annually. Each year at the opening ceremony of the event, a fashion house is awarded a prize for excellence in fashion business. The award “Die Goldene Seidenschleife” (The golden silk tie; Krefeld is renowned for producing silk ties) for 2009 goes to the fashion house LUISA CERANO. The jury recognizes the German international label for the development of a branch-specific concept and successful positioning of its premium collection. With a combination of high quality fabric, individual colours and highly skilled tailoring, the label continues to attract and retain fashionable and affluent feminine customers.
