Very few artists can boast 20 albums in a solid singing career spanning twenty-two years. 20th District (20D)
Black music is already popular in Germany and has influenced the lifestyle of many people. The situation seems inviting for new Black music artists and groups to live and work in Germany . One of these groups is the 20th District (20 D), based in Berlin . The group members are Albert Lindley Witherspoon Jr. (Thourough VET) from North Carolina , USA , Jerome Gammon (Rome J.) from Virginia , USA and Joao Lourenzo Pedro AKA (J. Lourenzo) from Angola , Africa . The group is managed by Thomas Elst from Germany. Following an impressive performace the group gave at the Bantu Club in Berlin , AFRITOPIC made an interview appointment with the group. In the interviews below, Albert and Jerome speak about their backgrounds, experiences and goals in the music business. Thomas Elst, the manager of 20D explains his working relationship with the group and the situation of the German music industry.
Triston Weber
The growing popularity of Black music is unstoppable. New Black artists are expanding the scope of the Black music genre by mixing elements of various music styles with beautiful lyrics. One of these new generations of artists is Triston Brewer, an African-American who left the US for Europe and now resides in Berlin . AFRITOPIC had an interesting chat with Triston in Berlin.

Samba music and dance are part of the cultural heritage contributed by Africans to the social life of Brazil. The east coast of South America was discovered by the Portuguese and named Rio de Janeiro (January River) in the 16th century.

Sunshine, percussion rhythms that made your body automatically swing, artworks and fashion accessories made of natural materials. That was not all. The air was filled with appetizing exotic spicy smell that intuitively invited you to have a taste of the food. People from different cultures, young and elderly, with smiles on their faces boldly expressing happiness and enjoying the atmosphere; the atmosphere of the 17th African Festival in Wuerzburg between 26-29th May 2005.
